Patnaik's statement comes a day after he said during his visit to Delhi on Tuesday that his party needed time to take a decision on Mahagathbandhan. "We will take some time and think about it," he had said.
Leaders of the Grand Alliance have also been stating that a public announcement about the seat-sharing arrangements will be made only after January 14.
The hints came clear after the party's National Council meeting where the party said it will utilise all its power and energy for contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Goa and Chandigarh.
While Akhilesh's statement hinted at his lack of interest in any future alliances with Congress, he also openly expressed support for federal front proposed by Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao and even went on to congratulate him for his efforts.
Rao expressed confidence that TDP would be rejected and said Naidu was 'driven away' to Amaravati following the cash-for-vote allegations.
Describing the meeting as "historic", TDP leader Nama Nageswara Rao said a message would go out to the country from the meeting.
Jaitley said he saw the reality of state parties in the country, but the nucleus of the coalition should be a party with a large political base and not a miniscule political base.
