In a relief for the area hit by a major glacier burst in Uttarakhand, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said no adverse weather events are expected over Chamoli, Tapovan and Joshimath on February 7 and 8.
Uttarakhand Glacier Burst: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) rescued all 16 people who were trapped in the tunnel near Tapovan, Chamoli after a part of Nanda Devi glacier broke off on Sunday leading to massive flash floods in the region.

The PMO said in another tweet that Modi, who is in Assam to launch several development projects, reviewed the situation in Uttarakhand and spoke to the state chief minister.
There was a massive flood in Uttarakhand's Joshimath area due to the water level in Dhauliganga river suddenly crossing its regular flow on Sunday morning followed by an avalanche near a power project at the Reni village of Chamoli district.

Two Indian Army personnel were killed when an avalanche hit an army patrol in the southern Siachen glacier sector in the Union Territory of Ladakh on Saturday. A Srinagar-based defence spokesperson said the Army patrol was operating at an altitude of approximately 18,000 feet in Southern Siachen Glacier when it was hit by the avalanche during the early hours of Saturday.
The avalanche had hit the Northern Glacier at around 3.30 pm where the altitude is around 18,000 feet and above.
