People living near the banks of the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur once again witnessed the ghastly sight of dead bodies washing up on the ghats of the river on Saturday. Similar scenes were witnessed on Tuesday in the same area, a day after bodies of suspected Covid patients washed up on banks of Ganga in Bihar's Buxar district.
After hundreds of bodies washed up on the Ganga ghats in Uttar Pradesh, several ghats in the district of Unnao have run out of space. Reportedly, there is no space meant for burying bodies at the Buxar and Rautapur ghats of the district.
The petition has sought directions to the Centre, authorities in states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to conduct post-mortem of the bodies which are found floating in river Ganga to ascertain the cause of death.
