A complaint was lodged at the Hanskhali police station by the parents of the minor girl, who had gone to attend the birthday party of the accused. She returned home in an ailing condition and died soon after.
Based on the complaint of the family members, a case has been registered against one named accused and five other unidentified people under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act.
The woman is stated to be stable. Raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused, police said.
While the incident took place earlier this month, the constable lodged a complaint on September 13, following which a probe was conducted and a case was registered this week against five persons, including the mother of the main accused, the official said.
Additional Commissioner of Police (East region), Dattatray Karale, said the offences were committed between January 29 this year and September 22.
The incident took place on Thursday night when the victim's cousin took her to a secluded place where he and his friend gang-raped her, a senior officer said.
Eight persons, including six autorickshaw drivers and two employees of the Railways, were arrested in connection with the crime.
The sixth accused was also arrested from Tamil Nadu on Monday night after police tracked him down. He had disappeared after the incident came to light.

The minor girl had befriended one Sahil through Facebook. At the time of the incident, the girl had gone to meet Sahil, with his two friends, who later gangraped the girl along with one other friend in a car.
