President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 152nd birth anniversary. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul also visited Raj Ghat and Vijay Ghat, memorials to Mahatma Gandhi and India's second prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, respectively, to pay floral tributes to them. Several Union Ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other political leaders also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 152nd birth anniversary. Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar town of Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi or Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi adopted a non-violent resistance and was at the forefront of the freedom struggle against the colonial British rule.
