In response to the situation, a medical team from the corporation-run Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa was dispatched to the school to provide immediate treatment.
At around 7 pm on Saturday, the Puranmal Lahoti Government Polytechnic's hostel served rice, chapattis, 'okra' curry and lentil soup to students for dinner. At around 8:30 students started suffering from symptoms.
Earlier on Tuesday, 38 children were hospitalised following the symptoms of food poisoning. Hospital authorities said the children were reported to be out of danger and the food samples were collected for testing.
Reports suggest that students had consumed snacks including samosa and chocolates during a meeting on Saturday and had rice and sambar in the night. They complained of vomiting and uneasiness the next day.
Soon after getting information about the incident, the village head and other authorities quickly rushed to the school and arranged transportation to shift the students to a nearby hospital.
Around 80 students from the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Ashram School in Mehroona village had fallen ill with symptoms of stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhoea after eating the school meal.
