The probe agency has moved toward the court challenging the Jharkhand High Court's April 22, 2022 order giving bail to Yadav for the case, wherein he was sentenced to five years in jail.
Lalu Pasad Yadav was sentenced to undergo imprisonment for five years and pay a fine of Rs 60 lakh in Doranda treasury case. This was Lalu's fifth conviction in a series of fodder scam cases.
The High Court on April 17, 2021, had granted bail to Prasad in the Dumka treasury case of the multi-crore rupees fodder scam on completion of half the sentence period, paving way for his release from jail.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was brought back to the emergency department of AIIMS Delhi around 12.30 pm. He was discharged earlier this morning.
A medical board of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi has referred Lalu to AIIMS New Delhi.
In jail since December 2017, Prasad served most of his sentence period at the RIMS. He was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in January last year after his health condition deteriorated.
Urging his party cadre not to lose heart, Tejashwi Yadav said, "the order passed today is not a finality. We will seek justice before the High Court of Jharkhand. If need be, we will move the Supreme Court".
Of the original 170 accused in the case, 55 have died, seven have become government witnesses, two have accepted the charges against them and six are absconding.
The fodder scam pertains to the fraudulent withdrawal of government money allocated to the Animal Husbandry Department of various districts in undivided Bihar.
The bail was allowed to Prasad by Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh. The court directed him neither to leave the country without permission nor change his address and mobile number during the bail period.

Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently in judicial custody in the Dumka Treasury case. He has secured bail in other cases related to the fodder scam.
Lalu, who has been convicted in multiple fodder scam cases, has been undergoing treatment at RIIMS for several ailments.
