The flag-hoisting incident comes in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to deny interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal. The Delhi CM is currently facing allegations in a corruption case related to an excise policy scam, which was filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, currently in jail, has written a letter to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena regarding the flag-hoisting ceremony on August 15. In his letter, Kejriwal requested that Minister Atishi be allowed to hoist the flag on his behalf for the Independence Day celebrations.

This was the second such high-mast flag hoisted by the Army in the Chenab valley region. In July last year, a 100-foot-high national flag was stationed at Kishtwar town.
The institute has taken cognisance of the dance of indecent Bhojpuri songs, and a committee has been formed to probe the incident, an official said.

The plan to hoist the national flag at Sao Jacinto island in South Goa on Independence Day stands cancelled.
"Since the metal pole, which was supposed to be used to hoist the tricolour, was lying on the terrace of the school, the two teenaged students went upstairs to bring it to the ground. But when they lifted the pole, it accidentally touched a live wire hanging over the terrace," he said.
