One Army jawan was killed after Pakistan violated ceasefire in Machil sector of Jammu and Kashmir early on Saturday. The soldier had received injuries during the unprovoked firing by Pakistan after which he was rushed to a hospital. The Army jawan thereafter succumbed to his injuries.
The gun battle started after security forces comprising special operations group of state police (SOG) and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) surrounded the Gund Brath area on the town outskirts following information about militant presence.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Bugam area of Budgam district in central Kashmir on Sunday morning following specific inputs about the presence of militants there, a police official said.

Arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of the encounter.
A cordon and search operation was launched by the security forces in Ratnipora area in south Kashmir after they had received specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
Earlier in the day, three militants including a Pakistani commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and two Kashmiri militants were killed and five security personnel were injured in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Mujgund area.
