The flight landed safely. Nobody was injured in the incident and all 170 passengers were safely disembarked, they said.
Passengers were not allowed to de-board the plane for over 3 hours after which they lodged a protest with the authorities.
A mid-air medical emergency on board a Yangon-bound Emirates Airlines flight from Dubai forced the aircraft to divert to the city airport here on Saturday where it made a priority landing, a statement said.
"There was loss of oil in the one of the engines which led to its mid-air failure and the subsequent emergency landing of the plane," the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official said.
The woman delivered the baby girl when the aircraft was around 40 minutes away from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
At least 30 passengers suffered ear and nose-bleed soon after the flight 9W 697 took off from Mumbai as the cabin crew forgot to select the switch which maintains cabin pressure.
However, an IndiGo spokesperson said there was no tyre burst and the aircraft did not make an emergency landing.
All passengers were accommodated on alternate flights upon landing, the flight statement said.
The boy was taken to a private hospital upon landing, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
"The passengers complained of severe headaches and ear pain, as well as nausea," a spokesman of Germany's Federal Police said, adding that some of the passengers were left bleeding from the ears.
On landing, the sick passenger was immediately rushed to a local hospital where his condition was reported to be stable.
Airport Director AK Sharma said all the passengers are safe and "we are fully prepared to handle any emergency situation".
