A strong earthquake shook northwestern Nepal districts just before midnight on Friday, following which at least 128 people died and several others were injured, officials said. Officials further added that the toll was expected to rise as rescue operations were on.
Besides, India offered to help in the rescue efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared on social media that he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives and damage due to the earthquake in Nepal.

Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal visited the affected areas in the country which suffered destruction and loss of lives late Friday night. PM Narendra Modi extended condolences on the deaths due to the massive earthquake which has so far claimed over 154 lives.

Earlier on Sunday, the Afghanistan Ministry of Disaster Management said that more than 9,000 people were injured in the tremors but later retracted and said over 2,000 received injuries. The spokesperson told the local media that the "tally was a mistake".
Afghanistan earthquake: Disaster authority spokesperson Mohammad Abdullah Jan said four villages in the Zenda Jan district in Herat province bore the brunt of the quake and aftershocks.
