On Sunday night, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake shook Chamba at 11.47 pm. Prior to that, five earthquakes of magnitude between 3 and 4.3 were felt between 5.11 pm to 8.43 pm in the district on Friday. Most parts of Himachal Pradesh, including Chamba, fall in the high seismic sensitive zone.
A multi-state mega mock exercise on earthquake preparedness will be conducted in the national capital region on Friday, an official statement said here.
The earthquake, which was registered at 9.11 a.m., had its epicenter on the coast of Chiba - a prefecture located west of Tokyo - at a depth of about 60 km, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
Mexican Civil Protection chief Luis Felipe Fuente tweeted that there were no immediate reports of major damages from Friday's quake.
