The intercepted narcotics, including heroin, have a street value of several hundred crores and were intended for distribution across India and potentially international markets.
The Delhi Police has so far recovered a total of 1,289 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana with a combined worth of over Rs 13,000 crore. A total of 12 accused involved in the crime have been arrested.
After the biggest drug haul in Delhi, police led to other major narcotics recoveries in the national capital and Gujarat. The Delhi police unveiled that the drug was brought in from South American countries and was purified in a factory in Gujarat before supplying to other parts of the country.
The latest development comes in the wake of a joint operation by Gujarat ATS and NCB in Bhopal which busted the drug manufacturing factory in Bhopal and seized Mephedrone and other manufacturing materials worth a staggering total value of Rs 1814 crores.
The amount of seizures is significantly high and comes a few days after the biggest-ever recovery of cocaine was made in Delhi. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi praised the dedication of law enforcement in safeguarding the health and security of the society.
The latest seizure marks the second such action by DRI in the span of one week, emphasising the agency's unwavering commitment to combat the drug menace and uphold law and order.
