Spiralling fuel prices continued their upward march even on Monday as petrol price in Mumbai crossed the landmark level of Rs 90 per litre.
The revised prices of petrol and diesel in Delhi stood at Rs 82.61/litre and Rs 73.97/litre.
On the other hand, petrol prices which reached an all-time high of Rs 89.69/litre, were hiked by 11 paise/litre in Mumbai and the revised rate stood at Rs 89.90/litre.
Petrol prices reached an all-time high of Rs 89.69 in Mumbai whereas the diesel prices stood at Rs 78.42 in the financial capital.
Fuel prices continued to skyrocket yet again on Sunday. Petrol, diesel prices were hiked by 28 paise per litre and 18 paise per litre respectively in Delhi.
The revised prices of petrol and diesel in Delhi stood at Rs 81.91/litre and Rs 73.72/litre.
Petrol reached Rs 81.28 per litre (increase by Rs 0.28/litre) and diesel prices stood at Rs 73.30 per litre (increase by Rs 0.22/litre).
A petition filed in the court accused government of spreading "misleading information", by drawing a connection between the rising fuel prices and the global increase in the rate of crude oil.
While Rajasthan on Sunday announced a 4 per cent cut in VAT on petrol and diesel, Andhra Pradesh Monday said fuel prices will be reduced by Rs 2 each from cut in sales tax.
The decision has come a day after the Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje announced a four-per cent reduction in value-added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel on Sunday. The reduction in VAT reduced fuel prices by Rs 2.5 per litre in the state.
Petrol, diesel prices reached Rs 80.72/litre (increase by 23 paise/litre) and Rs 72.83/litre (increase by 22 paise/litre) respectively in Delhi.
As per revised rates, petrol and diesel prices in Delhi stood at Rs 80.50 per litre and Rs 72.61 per litre respectively.

As per the revised rates, petrol and diesel prices in Delhi are Rs 80.38 per litre and Rs 72.51 per litre respectively.
Petrol reached Rs 79.99 per litre and Rs 87.39 per litre in Delhi and Mumbai respectively.
"Relentless rise in prices of petrol and diesel is not inevitable. Because the price is built up by excessive taxes on petrol and diesel. If taxes are cut, prices will decline significantly," Chidambaram said on Twitter.
A litre of diesel now costs Rs 70.21 in Delhi, where the rates are the cheapest in all metros and most state capitals due to lower sales tax or VAT.
In Delhi, petrol is selling at a price of Rs. 78.52 per litre, implying a hike of 22 paise.
