Petrol and diesel have turned costlier by up to Rs 5 per litre in Rajasthan following a hike in excise duty and road cess announced by the Centre and increase in local levies by the state government.

The government had cut the excise duty on fuel prices in October in order to tackle increasing prices of petrol and diesel.
As the international oil prices continued to rise, price of petrol and diesel in Delhi increased to Rs 82.83 and Rs 75.69 on October 17. In Mumbai, rates touched Rs 88.29 a litre for petrol and Rs 79.35 for diesel.
Beginning October 18, international oil prices have been falling and rupee has also appreciated.
The CPCB will immediately make social media account on which citizens can complain about pollution, the top court ordered.
Likewise, in Mumbai, for petrol and diesel, you have to pay Rs 86.81 per litre (decreased by Rs 0.10) and Rs 78.46 per litre (decreased by Rs 0.08), respectively.
Earlier on Sunday, oil-marketing companies increased the prices of petrol and diesel across the four metro cities.
The deputy chief minister added that states which are already reeling under the losses cannot be expected to bear the burden of extra Rs 2.5/ltre cuts.
The revised rates of petrol in Delhi stood at Rs 81.82/litre and Rs 73.53/litre respectively.
On Thursday, shortly after the Centre announced reduction in prices of petrol-diesel, Maharashtra and at least another 10 states followed suit. However, Maharashtra cut VAT only on petrol.
“Respected Modi ji, common man is deeply troubled over spiralling prices of petrol and diesel. Please bring petrol, diesel under GST ambit,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
The Centre cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 per litre and asked oil firms to absorb Re 1 a litre of prices.
Prices vary according to local taxes as petroleum is still excluded from the GST regime. Delhi has lower tax among the four major metros.
Petrol price on Monday crossed the Rs 91-mark in Mumbai while domestic cooking gas LPG rates breached the Rs 500-level for the first time ever.
Diesel in Mumbai costs Rs 79.72 per litre at IOC outlets and Rs 79.79 at BPCL outlets.
