Delhi government had proposed lifting the weekend curfew and ending the odd-even scheme for opening shops. But, the lieutenant governor directed that the status quo be maintained until the situation improves. His office, however, approved the government's proposal to allow private firms to function with 50 per cent of staff.
Delhi govt also recommended to lift restrictions on shops and commercial establishments, ending the odd-even system and allowing them to be open on all days.
Police erected barricades at several places to check vehicles and ensure that no person was moving around unauthorisedly during the curfew period.
The Delhi Police said the couple misbehaved with the policemen when they were asked the reason for not wearing mask. The woman misbehaved with the policemen and said they would not pay fine and started arguing with them.
Delhi will live under a curfew this weekend, largely indoors — from 10pm on Friday till 5am on Monday — chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Thursday in an effort to check the alarming surge in Covid cases. All non-essential movement of individuals, including that of domestic helps, will be prohibited during this period and all non-essential shops, including the ones selling liquor, will be shut.

In an attempt to curb the worsening situation, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday held a press conference wherein he laid out new guidelines. A weekend curfew will be imposed in Delhi. Apart from essential services, nothing else will be functional on weekends.
