Due to heavy rain in Delhi on Wednesday evening, large parts of the city were submerged. A 22-year-old woman and her child drowned in Ghazipur. There was traffic jam in many areas and roads started looking like rivers, due to which people got stuck everywhere.
Delhi rains: Delhi recorded more than a hundred millimetres of rainfall in one hour, leading to waterlogging in several areas of the national capital and prompting the weather office to issue a red warning.

The Pragati Maidan tunnel in the national capital was closed last week owing to waterlogging after the heavy rainfall in the city. The tunnel was inaugurated last year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Delhi, predicting heavy rain until July 3.

Monsoon had not yet arrived properly and Delhi turned into water in the first rain. Be it a VIP area or a common road, there is no one left who has not faced the brunt of rain. The roads of Delhi were flooded with 4 to 5 feet water. Buses, trucks and loader vehicles were half submerged.
The weather department said in a statement that conditions are likely to become favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon in Delhi during the next two to three days. Last year, the monsoon hit Delhi on June 26.
Heavy rainfall in Delhi brought much-needed relief from the recent heatwave, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more showers throughout the day. The rain is expected to continue in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Gurugram.
