A fresh Western Disturbance will start affecting the Western Himalayan region Friday onwards. As a result, the mercury is likely to drop to 4 degrees Celsius by Monday, an IMD official said.
At least 16 Delhi-bound trains have been reported to be running late. The Delhi Airport, however, said that all flight operations are normal and low visibility procedures are in process.

Parts of Delhi-NCR reeled under a severe cold wave and witnessed dense fog on Thursday morning. IMD said that the minimum temperature dropped to 2 degrees Celsius.
The weather department on Tuesday had issued an orange alert for the northern plains, which are also forecast to witness foggy conditions. A large part of the country is set to face intense cold conditions over the next few days, it said.

As winter chill grips the plains, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the night temperatures would continue to be below normal in north India over the next week and a slight relief can be expected only a week later.
