A case was registered against the Delhi BJP chief after an EDMC complaint, citing that Tiwari had tampered with the seal of a dairy that was shut down for running illegally.
"It is a very unfortunate thing. Obviously, somebody is putting pressure on the STF. We do not know whether its builders or others. From the report, it appears that the STF is under pressure," the bench said.
The decision came after the Centre told the top court that it has not instructed authorities to stop sealing drive in Delhi.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday gave a tongue-lashing to the Centre, Delhi government and civic agencies for their failure to stop unauthorised constructions in the national capital.
The top court came down heavily on the Centre and other authorities for their “failure” to do their job, saying due to this, such a situation has arisen and termed it a “very serious issue” concerning governance.
The all-party meeting with the monitoring committee members held at Delhi Secretariat was attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari and other leaders.
Reacting to the demand of an ordinance by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to stop the drive, Puri said there was a tendency to "highlight victimhood" as part of "populist politics" in a democracy.
The chief minister termed the ongoing sealing drive a "dangerous attack" on traders and said an all party-delegation, including his cabinet colleagues, would meet the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee to resolve the issue.
