According to the IMD weather bulletin, the western disturbance will result in moderate to light scattered rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh till February 21.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed respite from cold wave conditions on Wednesday following overcast skies in the valley and forecast of another spell of rain and snow later and on Thursday.
Delhi and adjoining areas of Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurgaon witnessed heavy rains and hailstorm on Thursday evening. Traffic in Delhi-NCR was badly hit following the sudden weather change.
Commenting on the weather conditions, an official of the IMD said, "The sky will remain partly cloudy throughout the day with chances of light rain or thundershowers.”
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the hilly areas will also receive heavy snowfall in the next two days.
Delhi received 24.6 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours and the weatherman has predicted the downpour to continue throughout the day.
The weatherman has forecast generally cloudy sky with few spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to settle around 30 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

Giving some relief to Delhiites, the weatherman had predicted that the sky would be mostly clear during the day on Tuesday.
