The CPCB said in 19 areas of the national capital the air quality was in the "very poor" category, while in six areas it was recorded in the "poor" category.
While according to the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting (SAFAR), the overall air quality index (AQI) of Delhi was 322, which fell in the 'very poor' category, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded an overall AQI of 297 which is in the 'poor' category.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the pollution level in Delhi however improved to "poor" with Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 298 while the prominant air pollutants remained PM 2.5 and PM 10.
"There will be clear sky in the day ahead," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said, adding that the maximum temperature was likely to hover around 26 degrees Celsius.
The overall air quality index (AQI) of Delhi was recorded at 316, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
Experts attribute the current pollution situation of Delhi to local sources, including vehicular emissions, dust and industrial pollution. There are over 14 major sources of pollution in Delhi.
Delhi's air quality showed a deteriorating trend from Monday and is presently in the "very poor" category.

Acting tough on the grave issue, a bench comprising of Justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta said that officials who have failed to act on the complaints were required to be prosecuted.
SAFAR, on Sunday, had said the air quality in the city will oscillate between "poor" and "very poor" till Wednesday.
Six areas in the national capital recorded "very poor" quality air while 21 areas recorded "poor" air quality, according Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 82 per cent. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 28 degrees Celsius.

The Particulate Matter (PM) concentration is likely to reduce owing to increased wind speed and air quality is likely to be in poor category.
