The VDA is revised on the basis of the average Consumer Price Index for industrial workers (CPI-IW), a price index compiled by the Labour Bureau (an attached office of the Ministry of Labour & Employment).
With this, the DA of the employees and pensioners has been increased from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. The hiked DA will be credited in the October salary, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a statement.
The move would benefit 16 lakh government employees and pensioners and the advancement of the DA hike would entail an additional expenditure of Rs 1,620 crore for three months and for a year the expenditure shall be Rs 6,480 crore.
7th Pay Commission: With this, the new DA rate will be 28 per cent, up from 17 per cent of basic salary, and this was at par with the one being provided to Central government staffers and pensioners, Gujarat Chief Minister Nitin Patel said.

7th Pay Commission: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced that the state government has hiked the dearness allowance of government employees. The hike will come into effect from July 2021, the chief minister said in the state assembly.
“The finance department will soon issue a notification for the increase in dearness allowance for state government employees and pensioners," Nitish Kumar said.
This announcement to provide a financial benefit of Rs 450 crore to the employees and pensioners was made by the CM Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over a state-level function at historic Seri Manch in Mandi.
