"It is our responsibility to take care of the employees. 46% dearness allowance has been approved and has been made effective since July 1, 2023."

The Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief is paid to central government employees/pensioners to adjust the cost of living and to protect their basic pay/pension from erosion in the real values. These are revised twice a year.
The Union Cabinet has approved a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners, raising it from 42% to 45%, effective from July 1, 2024, just in time for Diwali.
With the latest hike, the dearness allowance (DA) has increased to 50 per cent of the basic salary. Earlier it was 46 per cent. Chief Minister's Office termed it a Diwali gift for state employees.

The last DA hike for Central government employees, effective from January 1, 2024, was announced on March 7, 2024, increasing the total DA to 50%. This latest adjustment also helped other allowances, including House Rent Allowance (HRA).

Presently, over one crore central government employees and pensioners are getting a 42 per cent dearness allowance.
According to an official notice, the hike will be effective from July 1, 2022.
DA hike: The hike will be effective from July 1, and the additional amount will be paid with October's salary, announced Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet.
Apart from DA hike, the government has also decided to extend the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) for another 3 months.
The order posted by the Chief Minister Office (CMO) on its official Twitter handle stated that the state government employees were getting 22 per cent DA under the 7th Pay Commission and 174 per cent under the 6th Pay Commission since May this year.
DA hike: Some 9.38 lakh employees of the state government, panchayat service and pensioners will get the benefit, the chief minister has announced.
DA hike will benefit a total of 1,88,494 people, including 1,04,683 regular employees and 80,855 pensioners.
