Cyclone Biparjoy will further intensify into a severe cyclonic storm in the next 48 hours and move towards northwest India during the next three days.
Cyclone Biparjoy UPDATES: Met office said the severe cyclonic storm is likely to move nearly northwards and intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm. It would then move north-northwestwards during the subsequent three days.
NDRF has deployed eight teams and 200 rescuers in West Bengal's Digha after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that Cyclone Mocha will intensify into a severe cyclonic storm.
Cyclone Mocha update: "Cyclonic storm Mocha over the southeast Bay of Bengal about 510 km west-southwest of Port Blair, 1190 km south-southwest of Coxs Bazar (Bangladesh). To intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by midnight of today," tweeted IMD.
Cyclone update: In recent years, the IMD has started to include names of cultural significance in the list of names. For example, the name Amphan, which means sky in Thai, was used for a cyclone that hit West Bengal in 2020.
Cyclone Mocha update: The bulletin also informed that the movement of the depression is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the southeast and adjoining central Bay of Bengal.
Cyclone Mocha: IMD earlier informed that the weather system is likely to concentrate into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal around May 9 and intensify into a cyclonic storm and move nearly northward towards the central Bay of Bengal.
Cyclone Mandous aftermath in Tamil Nadu: The IMD said Mandous has weakened after completing landfall process late Friday. It will weaken to a deep depression and later a depression on Saturday, as per the regional Met office.

As per IMD, the cyclone's recurve is possible after morning, and it will then come towards the Odisha coast, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected
According to IMD's special bulletin, light to moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at many places in coastal Odisha on May 10 evening.
Special Relief Commissioner asked district collectors to regularly watch IMD forecasts and warnings and directed the authorities to send a compliance report on the recommended measures.
Cyclone genesis depends on a lot of factors such as wind pattern in the atmosphere, the sea conditions, and even wind shear, or the difference of winds in the lower layer and upper layer.
The weather system had intensified from a depression to a deep depression over the north Andaman Sea on Monday and was moving northwards at a speed of 13 kmph.
The depression in Bay of Bengal and South Andaman sea is also predicted to cause rain, accompanied with thunder and lightning.
