A group of university and college students in Tripura have started an online campaign to stop 'crime against women' demanding fast disposal of such cases and exemplary punishment of the accused persons. Asmira Debbarma, a student of political science in Tripura University has formed an 'SMS' (Stand against rape) group and at least 25 other students have joined the group.
In a shocker, a 16-year old Mumbai college student faced an acid attack allegedly perpetrated by the former principal and others of her educational institution but managed to escape major injury, officials said here on Monday.
The boy allegedly coaxed the-14-year-old girl and made physical relations with her, Kullu's Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said.
He dumped some pieces of the body in a septic tank and the torso was found in a gunny bag in a drain, they said.
The 16-year-old was allegedly gangraped on Saturday at a village under Sarai Akil police station limits and the accused also recorded a video of the act, Superintendent of Police (SP) Pradeep Gupta said.
The accused have been identified as, Ravi (25) and Ankit Chaudhary (24). Both resident of Basaidarapur area in Moti Nagar, they said.
"The teacher was arrested on Monday soon after the complaint against him was lodged at the Farukhnagar police station," said Gurgaon police PRO Subhash Bokan,The accused was arrested from his residence in Gurgaon, he added.
The incident occurred on February 23, 2016 at a rented accommodation in Chakkharpur village of Haryana, when the three accused -- Vipin, 20, his brother Nitiesh Kumar, 20, and their friend Monu, 24 -- raped and killed her.
The incident was reported to a woman police post here on Friday by the mother of the victims who is from Nepal.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident on a complaint lodged by the woman's family members at the Harsh Vihar police station, they said.
According to the woman's complaint, she had gone to fetch water from Ahmadpur village under the Thana Bhawan police station on August 2, when she was allegedly harassed by Ravi, Papan and Monu.
