Covid-19: India on Tuesday logged 5,676 new Covid-19 infections. However, the number of active covid cases in the country rose to 37,093.
According to the health department's update on Monday morning, 31 new patients tested positive for COVID-19 in a 24-hour period, taking the number of active cases to 302.
Covid19: Mumbai city saw 95 fresh cases and a single fatality, taking the tally of infections to 11,58,060 and the Covid death toll in the city to 19,750.
Covid19: The decision was taken at a review meeting on the issue of rising covid cases.
WHO chief on COVID origin: "Without full access to the information that China has, you cannot say this or that," said Tedros Ghebreyesus in response to a question about the origin of the virus.
"The WHO comments were offensive and disrespectful," said the director of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Shen Hongbing. He accused the WHO of attempting to smear China and said it should avoid helping others politicize COVID-19.
"Without full access to the information that China has, all hypotheses are on the table. That's why we have been asking China to be cooperative on this," said the WHO chief.
COVID-19: During a review meeting on COVID situation, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya virtually interacted with the health ministers of the states and union territories and advised them to ramp up vaccination of all eligible population, especially of the elderly and vulnerable population group.
Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a high-level meeting to review Covid-related situation.
COVID-19 cases: Maharashtra's coronavirus fatality rate today stood at 1.82 per cent, while the recovery rate was 98.13 per cent.
COVID-19: Referring to recent media reports, a bench comprising CJI and Justice JB Pardiwala said the court is more than willing to permit lawyers to appear through the hybrid mode. "We can hear you through video conferencing mode also," the CJI said.
Preventing the spread of infectious diseases at work is crucial for employee health, company productivity, and success. Encouraging vaccination, promoting hand hygiene, implementing respiratory etiquette among others things is important.
The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.76 per cent, according to the health ministry website.
Covid positivity rate in Delhi stands at 15.64 per cent, related authorities informed on Tuesday.

It is for the first time since September 2022 when the national capital witnessed 300 fresh Covid infections.
