India has lately witnessed a sudden spike in the COVID cases. As many as 594 new COVID infections were recorded yesterday in the country. In the wake of the spike, the Delhi government has decided to send the samples for RT-PCR test and genome sequencing.
The new research, published Thursday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, includes more than 8,600 adults who had COVID-19 at different points in the pandemic, comparing them to another 1,100 who hadn’t been infected.
Delhi witnessed a further dip in coronavirus cases as it registered 865 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.
Covid19: An administrative circle consists of multiple districts. Since January 1, 2023, 86 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in the state with 72.09 percent of these patients aged above 60 years. Also, 87 percent of the deceased had comorbidities, said the department.
In a circular, the High Court advised against large gatherings in the common and waiting areas to avoid any further spread of the virus.
Covid-19 Alert: Delhi on Wednesday recorded 1,757 new covid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 28.63 percent. Whereas, Maharashtra logged 1,100 new coronavirus cases.
With the new cases, Delhi's Covid tally has climbed to 20,25,781. Five fresh fatalities have pushed the death toll due to the viral disease to 26,572, according to a bulletin issued by the health department.
Delhi: The national capital has witnessed a bounce in active Covid-19 cases from March-end to mid-April. As per the official data, Delhi has registered a 430 percent rise in active infections in the short span.
Mumbai circle led with 262 cases, followed by 90 in Pune circle, 86 in Aurangabad circle, 39 in Akola circle, 12 in Nashik circle, seven in Kolhapur circle, six in Latur circle and three in Aurangabad circle, health department official said.

Thane city reported two deaths, while Vasai-Virar region in neighbouring Palghar and Akola district recorded one fatality each.
The health department has instructed hospitals, polyclinics and dispensaries in the city to increase Covid testing.
The increase in the number of fresh Covid infections came amid a sharp rise in H3N2 influenza cases in the country.
The XBB 1.16 variant was first found in January when two samples tested positive for the variant while in February a total of 59 samples were found. In March, till now 15 samples of the XBB 1.16 variant have been found.
India on Wednesday reported 188 new Covid cases. There are 3,552 active cases in India.
A massive mock drill drive was conducted across the nation at Covid hospitals under the supervision of the respective state health minister. Authorities stepped up measures to stop the Covid spread as the new year celebration is approaching.
