Andhra Pradesh has become the latest state in India after Telangana, West Bengal and New Delhi to announce a statewide lockdown to counter the growing threat of COVID-19.
Public transport including domestic flights, passenger trains, metros and taxis have been impacted severely by the measures taken by state governments to fight COVID-19. Several of the major cities across the country have also been put on lockdown temporarily as a measure to contain the virus. Here is the list of cities put under lockdown
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has declared a statewide lockdown till March 31 to counter the coronavirus outbreak that has infected 341 people in India. The lockdown has been announced under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.
The student recently returned to Bhopal from London where she was pursuing a post-graduate law course and her test report was found positive for coronavirus, Bhopal commissioner Kalpana Shrivastava told PTI.
Most of the major cities in West Bengal, including Kolkata will remain on lockdown till March 27 as an initiative taken by the state government to counter the growing threat of coronavirus. The lockdown will begin at 5:00 pm on Monday and last till 12:00 midnight on March 27.
