The Met office on Wednesday warned of cold days ahead as the minimum temperature in the national capital and adjoining areas is set to fall by 3-4 degrees Celsius due to likely cold winds.
“It will continue to be this cold for another two-three days. After that, it will slowly start getting warmer," an IMD official said.
Drass was recorded the coldest in Jammu and Kashmir, at minus 24.8 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in the town remained below the freezing point at minus 9.8.

The mercury in most parts of Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region stayed way below the freezing point resulting in frozen water bodies and water supply lines.

In Kashmir, the 40-day harshest winter period, known in the local parlance as 'Chillai-Kalan', has set in.
Leh recorded minus 6 degrees Celsius, Srinagar minus 2.8, Pahalgam minus 8.4, Gulmarg minus 4.0, Jammu city 6, Katra 7, Batote 3.3, Bannihal 0.5 and Bhaderwah 0.4.
The minimum temperature dipped to 6.4 degrees Celsius, three notches below the average for the season, said a MeT department official.
Kargil continued to be the coldest recorded place in the state while the temperature in nearby Leh settled at minus 11.9 degrees Celsius, a MeT department official said.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature will be 25 degree Celsius, with lows of five degrees.
Delhi has been witnessing chilly wintry mornings for the last couple of days, with cold waves intensifying in the region.
Dense fog prevailed at several places, affecting normal life. Road, rail and air traffic was affected due to the fog.
