The legendary Goswami, captain of the 1962 Asian Games football gold medal-winning India team, breathed his last in Kolkata on Thursday evening. He was 82.

His most notable performance came in 1966 when he picked eight wickets for a combined East and Central Zone team to beat Garry Sober's West Indies.
India's footballers and cricketers -- both current and former -- reacted with shock after Goswami's demise. The versatile veteran, a former India football captain as well as a first-class cricketer, was 82.
It was his greatness that he quit football at 30 and then pursued his other passion -- cricket. And captained Bengal to the Ranji final in 1972.
Goswami was captain of the 1962 Asian Games gold-medal winning team and had also represented Bengal in the first-class cricket tournaments.
