China has released a list of 30 new names for various places in Arunachal Pradesh, which it claims as 'Zangnan' or South Tibet, despite India's strong objections. India has repeatedly rejected China's 'absurd' claims over the northeastern state, asserting that it is an integral part of the country.
China's latest move came despite India on Thursday strongly objected to China's "baseless" remarks towards Arunachal Pradesh, and affirmed, "Beijing may repeat its baseless claims as many times as they want but this will not change India's position".
India's reaction came as Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson of the Chinese defence ministry, said, "Zangnan is China's inherent territory, and China never recognizes and firmly opposes India's illegal establishment of the so-called 'Arunachal Pradesh".
India and China held the 29th round of border consultation in Beijing on Wednesday, where the South Asian nations discussed ways to achieve complete disengagement and resolve the remaining issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Ladakh region.
During the meeting, the statement from Beijing said China and Sri Lanka agreed to continue to act under the friendship, peace, mutual respect and fivefold principle in international affairs. Besides, China also agreed to not interfere in the internal affairs of the island nation.
According to the reports published in Pakistani media, PM Shehbaz assured Beijing to “conduct a high-level and early investigation of the incident and punish the perpetrators and facilitators.”
