Earlier on May 9, 6 Naxalites carrying a bounty of Rs. 36 lakh over them surrendered to the police in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. The Naxalites surrendered after getting inspired by the 'Puna Narkom' rehabilitation program for Naxals.
Earlier today, exchange of gunfire happened between Naxals and security forces in the jungle near Pidiya village under Gangaloor Police Station area.
The six Naxalites were affiliated to Maoists' People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion Number 1, People's Party Committee Member (PPCM), Kistaram Area Committee and eavh had a varying bounty over their head. They surrendered after getting inspired by police's 'Puna Narkom' drive.
