On Friday, the State reported an all-time high of 36,184 new infections besides adding 467 fatalities on a single day.
"Currently nine people are being treated for the disease, of which six are old cases and three, new ones. Seven of them are diabetic, all are stable," health secretary J Radhakrishnan told reporters.
The Tamil Nadu fisheries department state Commissioner J Jayakanthan said, "Most of the fishermen are from the western coast of Kanyakumari since the annual fishing ban is in effect in eastern coast."
Petrol and diesel prices witnessed a minor surge in the national capital and stood at Rs 90.74 and Rs 81.12 per litre, respectively on Wednesday. The petrol prices were increased by 19 paise per litre and diesel by 21 paise in Delhi.

People from abroad and other states shall be allowed entry to Tamil Nadu only if they have registered in the portal http://eregister.tnega.org and information on registration should be produced to authorities on arrival.
Malls, commercial establishments, tea shops, restaurants, vegetable markets, retail shops and provisional shops will remain open till 9 pm and only 50 per cent of customers will be allowed at a time, the civic body said in a statement.
