The last decade definitely offered several exciting moments for space enthusiasts as India took huge strides in the field of science. Despite a major upset in Chandrayaan-2, there is no looking back for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Infact, it has so much more in store. Read on.
Indian Space Research Organisation chief K Sivan on Wednesday announced that India’s third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3 is on and has been approved by the government.
After an unsuccessful bid two months ago, India may attempt another soft landing on the Moon by next year-end, probably in November, sources in ISRO said on Thursday. The Indian Space Research Organisation had constituted a high-level committee, headed by S Somanath, Director of Thiruvanathapuram-based Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, the lead centre responsible for all launch vehicle programmes of ISRO, to prepare a report on the proposed Chandrayaan-3.
ISRO Chairman K Sivan has no personal accounts on social media platforms, the Indian Space Research Organisation clarified on Monday. The Indian Space agency's clarification came after several fake social media accounts operating with K Sivan's name emerged in large numbers, more so after the Chandrayaan-2 mission. Several social media users were seen following these fake accounts including on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
ISRO has said that the Vikram lander is safe and has not broken into pieces after landing on the moon.
To extend his support, a 10-year-old boy penned a letter asking ISRO scientists not to get disheartened and we will definitely reach the moon. Anjaneya Kaul titled his letter "Feelings of a Grateful Indian".
During an interaction with the prime minister, one of the boys asked what he should do to become the country's President. ''My aim is to become the President of India. What steps should I follow?'' the boy asked PM Modi.
The Chandrayaan 2 orbiter, which has the life span of one year, intact and safe. It will continue to study and take pictures of the Moon's surface for the newest one year. The orbiter can also take picture of Vikram lander to find out its status too. The rover, Pragyaan inside the lander had a lifespan of only 14 days.
Chandrayaan 2 mission has made India the fourth country to carry out soft landing land rover on the surface of the moon after Russia, America, and China. Chandrayaan-2 will probe of earth's only natural satellite.
Chandrayaan 2 Moon Landing: Countdown begins for India's historic mission as Chandrayaan-2 will make its most significant move to journey to the moon. As the Vikram Lander will touchdown the lunar surface during the wee hours of Saturday, ISRO will prove its mettle in the space science. But do you know how ISRO created artificial moon surface to test rover, lander?
The 1,471-kg lander of Chandrayaan-2 -- first Indian mission to explore the lunar terrain with home-grown technology -- is named Vikram after Dr Vikram A Sarabhai, the father of the Indian space programme.
Chandrayaan 2 Moon Landing: In a few hours from now, India's Chandrayaan-2 will make its most significant move to journey to the moon. Chandrayaan 2's Vikram - the moon lander, will make a powered descent between 1:30 am and 2:30 am. IndiaTvNews.com brings to you a Step-by-Step Guide to Vikram's touchdown on moon's South Pole.
"As if the Chandrayaan launch is the first in the country. As if before they came to power, no such missions were taken up. It is an attempt to divert attention from economic disaster," she said.
Vikram is scheduled to roll out 'Pragyaan', a six-wheeled rover, after making a soft landing on the south polar region of the moon on September 7 between 1.30 a.m. to 2.30 a.m. 'Pragyaan' will carry out the research for which it was designed.
The Indian space agency on Sunday successfully completed the fifth and final lunar bound orbit manoeuvre for the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft.
He said Cartosat-3 will be launched using the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket.
The 3,850-kg Chandrayaan-2, a three-module spacecraft comprising orbiter, lander and rover, which was launched on July 22, would make a landing on the moon on September 7, the ISRO chief said.
As soon as Chandrayan 2 soared up into the skies, a rent of cheer tore through the roof of a house in Lucknow. The house in Rajajipuram, where Ritu Karidhal Srivastava, the mission director of Chandrayan-2, lived, is suddenly the centre of attraction and has acquired a celebrity status almost overnight.
As ISRO's another moon mission Chandrayaan-2 is all set to launch again, as many as 7,500 had registered online with the Indian Space Research Organisation to witness India's heavy-lift rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-Mk III) roaring towards the skies.
