Tributes were paid to the Army soldiers who were killed in Tangadhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control during a ceasefire violation by Pakistan, officials said on Monday.
Army Chief General Bipin Rawat briefed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh about the situation at Line of Control in Kupwara (Jammu and Kashmir), sources told India TV News. They said that after briefing Defence Minister, General Rawat told him that retaliatory action taken by the Indian Army has resulted in a befitting reply to Pakistan after its ceasefire violation.

One house and a rice godown completely were damaged in the incident, along with two cars and two cow shelters with 19 cattle and sheep inside were also destroyed.
During the firing and shelling by the Pakistan troops, one injured jawan, identified as Naik Subash Thapa, 25, was evacuated to the Military Command Hospital Udhampur, but later succumbed to injuries, the spokesperson said.
At about 3.15 pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by intense firing of small arms and shelling with Mortars in Balakote in Mendhar sector.

Pakistan on Wednesday summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia and condemned the alleged ceasefire violations by Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC) that killed two persons, including a toddler. Pakistan's Foreign Office said, in the meeting, Director General (SA & SAARC) Mohammad Faisal told Ahluwalia that the ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
The Indian diplomat was summoned by Mohammad Faisal, the Director-General (South Asia and SAARC), following Sunday's unprovoked ceasefire violation in Hot Spring and Chirikot sectors of the LoC, reports The Express Tribune.
Pakistan on Wednesday initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera Sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
Furthermore, two Pakistani soldiers were also killed in the exchange of fire in the Tangdhar and Keran sectors.
Defence sources said Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked shelling with mortars and firing of small arms first in Krishna Ghati, then in Mankote and Shahpur sectors of the LoC.
The ceasefire violation took place in Nowshera sector. Indian Army retaliated in a swift manner. No casualties have been reported.
