External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said ceasefire violations were being used by Pakistan to aid infiltration of terrorists.
Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire thrice yesterday, a day after full implementation of 2003 ceasefire pact earnestly in a bid to ensure peace on both the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, as per Pakistan's request.
The clashes, which lasted almost eight hours, forced the authorities to shift civilians from border villages in Pargwal and Kanachak sub-sectors to safer places out of the line of fire, with police using bulletproof vehicles in at least 30 villages.
The chief minister said people on both sides of the border are getting killed by the firing and called upon DGMOs of both the countries to talk and end the bloodshed.
At least 13 civilians have been injured in the firing. "We are fully prepared to face any situation. Thirteen civilians are injured but their morale is high, we have made full arrangements to vacate people from vulnerable areas," IGP Jammu SD Singh told media.
The terrorists were attempting to enter the Indian side in the wee hours of the morning but were spotted and fired upon by Indian forces, new agency ANI reported.
According to an official statement, 100 border villages and 40 BSF outposts in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts are under direct attack by Pakistani forces as they continued the shelling for the ninth day today, prompting a strong and effective retaliation by the BSF.
Around 10 am, Indian troops, obliterated a watch tower and bunker at Pakistan's Paswan Power. The Pakistani troops were using the bunker and tower to shoot mortar shells on residential areas in India.

"Due to shelling from across in Balakote sector of Poonch, five civilians died and two are injured who are being shifted to the hospital," SP Vaid, J&K DGP informed media.
The incidence comes a day after Army foiled an attempt by a group of terrorists to intrude into this side under the cover of Pakistani firing from across the LoC in Poonch.
Parveen Akhter was killed when she was hit by a bullet fired by Pakistani troops along the LoC in Pkukherni and Lairan villages of Noushera around 10:35 PM.
Deployed along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu, Hazra was killed in unprovoked firing by Pak troops, BSF officers said in an official statement.
Pakistan mounted 780 ceasefire violations in 2017, up significantly from 153 in 2014,152 in 2015 and 228 in 2016.
