Previously, the government used to cover the income tax payments for ministers in Madhya Pradesh. However, 52 years later, the Mohan government changed the rule and the ministers will now be responsible for paying their own income tax.
The move is seen as a master stroke by the Modi government ahead of key states elections and the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
