The protesters shouted slogans and held placards that read 'Scrap NRC & CAA' and 'We won't allow fascism to rule in India', as they passed by the saffron party's West Bengal headquarters at Muralidhar Lane.
As protesting crowd swelled by minutes, the women students specifically asked them not to use abusive or unparliamentary language during the protest. The varsity has been at the forefront of the protest against the citizenship law.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had on Thursday claimed that she had received inputs that the BJP is allegedly buying skullcaps for its cadres, who are wearing them while vandalising public properties to malign a particular community.

As protests against the amended Citizenship Act rocked the country, Derek O'Brien had on Thursday changed his Twitter profile picture and was seen dressed in a plain white shirt, which read "No CAB, NO NRC."
In view of the curfew and tense situation prevailing in the city and the district, the state-run Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and Visvesvaraya Technology University postponed all exams scheduled to be held on Friday and Saturday.
