The bypolls to seven Assembly seats will be conducted on September 5 and the counting of votes will take place on September 8.
The three seats fell vacant following the resignations of Baburao Chinchansur, R Shankar and Laxman Savadi to contest the assembly elections.
Jharsuguda by-poll: BJD candidate Dipali Das defeated rival BJP candidate Tankadhar Tripathy by a margin of over 48,000 votes in Jharsuguda.
The two seats fell vacant following the resignation of Laxman Prasad Acharya and the death of Banwari Lal.
Bypoll Updates The voting for assembly by-polls are underway at Lumla in Arunachal Pradesh, Ramgarh in Jharkhand, Erode East in Tamil Nadu and Sagardighi in West Bengal.
Maharashtra by-polls: The by-election were necessitated due to the death of BJP MLAs- Mukta Tilak and Laxman Jagtap. In Chinchwad, the contest is between BJP and NCP, while in Kasba BJP and Congress are in the race.
Arunachal, West Bengal bypolls: Arunachal's Lumla Assembly seat was vacant after the death of BJP leader Jambey Tashi and in West Bengal's Sagardighi the election was necessary because of the death of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Subrata Saha.
Gola Gokarannath Assembly bypoll result: After his victory, Giri said he will fulfil the dream of his father Arvind Giri, whose death in September necessitated the bypoll, and ensure development of the constituency.
The seven assembly constituencies where the elections are being held are Andheri East from Maharashtra, Adampur from Haryana, Munugode from Telangana, Gola Gokaran Nath from UP and Dhamnagar from Odisha. The two constituencies of Bihar where the bye-elections are underway are Mokama and Gopalganj.
The SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann defeated the AAP candidate Gurmail Singh in the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of 5,822 votes, dealing a blow to the Arvind Kejriwal-led party which stormed to power in Punjab barely three months ago.
June 6 is the last day of filing of nomination for Lok Sabha and assembly bypolls. Polling will be held on June 23 and counting of votes will take place on June 26.
The bypolls held on April 12 were perhaps the most keenly watched, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) losing in all five seats in the four states.
Shehbaz, 70, was the only candidate left in the race after former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced that his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party will boycott the voting and staged a walkout.
By-elections were held in 14 states and one union territory on Oct 30 of which the results were announced on Nov 2.
According to results announced by the Election Commission of India on Tuesday, Ramesh Bhusanur of BJP won in Sindgi seat by a margin of 31,185 votes, by securing 93,865 votes, while his closest rival Congress' Ashok Managuli secured 62,680 votes.
These instructions were issued to check surge in COVID-19 cases when counting was to be held for assembly elections held in Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, West Bengal and Kerala earlier this year.
The assembly by-elections which saw a high turnout were held in five seats in Assam, four in West Bengal, three each in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, two each in Bihar, Karnataka and Rajasthan and one seat each is in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Mizoram and Telangana.
In a letter sent to the Election Commission of India, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has submitted a list of 20 star campaigners -- which also includes new inductee Kanhaiya Kumar -- for the by-elections to Mandi Lok Sabha and Arki, Fatehpur and Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh.
The Congress said Jowel Tudu, Bhaskar Dahal and Manoranjan Konwar will contest from Gossaigaon, Tamulpur and Thowra seats in Assam while Jitesh Antapurkar will contest for Deglur in Maharashtra.
