A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was registered earlier in the day against some flat owners and others at Nehru Nagar police station in connection with the Monday midnight incident.
Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray on Monday night visited the site of the building collapse in Mumbai's Kurla on Monday night, where he said such property should be vacated on the notice of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The call about the building collapse was received at 8.40 pm. In the rescue mission, so far, two girls and their father have been rescued. A three-year-old, however, succumbed to injuries, officials said.
The residential complex named Jimmy Park's ceiling slabs from sixth to ground floor collapsed in the early hours on Saturday. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) had last month issued a notice to carry out a structural audit of the building, it was stated.
According to the BMC, at least three to four people were initially suspected to be trapped in the debris while the rescue operations were underway.
The official informed that they received a PCR call at 5.19 p.m. regarding the falling off a roof at Firni road, Mundka.
Rescue workers from neighboring cities rushed to Abadan to help. No further information was immediately available and authorities said the incident was under investigation.
The six-story building in the city of Changsha partially collapsed on Friday. State broadcaster CCTV reported that the collapse trapped some 23 people who were in the building.
NDRF, Delhi Fire department teams are carrying out rescue operations. A senior fire official said according to preliminary inquiry, it seems that the building was old and not in a good condition to undergo renovation.
Drainage work was going on in the area and it could be the reason for the collapse of the ground-plus-one-story house, officials said.
On Monday, Haryana minister J P Dalal told the assembly that an FIR had already been lodged in connection with the incident. Days after the collapse, the authorities had said that they would conduct a structural audit of four other towers to determine if they were safe for living.
The residents, carrying placards, also protested for the immediate arrest of the promoters & directors of Chintels India Ltd and the government officials who gave occupation certificates (OC) for these apartments.
Two separate FIRs have been registered in the incident till now.
Rescuers have to be careful not to damage key supporting pillars, officials said as anxious family members and residents of Chintels Paradiso in Gurugram’s sector 109 counted the hours since Thursday evening when the dining room floor of a sixth-floor apartment came down, killing two women.
On Friday afternoon, a portion of an old building built under Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojana in Bawana's JJ colony collapsed.
Among the killed was a nine-year-old child, officials said.
