Mumbai rains: It is an old building of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority that was declared dangerous by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
The rescue operation was immediately launched. Several people were believed to be trapped in the rubble.

“It actually happened when a three-story building next to my nephew's house collapsed due to a gas cylinder that burst on my nephew’s house in the early hours of the morning at Sehri (fasting) time. My nephew’s whole family passed," said a family member.
A chaotic situation prevailed after a part of the langar khana collapsed in the narrow street. District Collector Dr Bharti Dixit and other administrative and police officers reached the spot.
There were no reports of injuries by early evening, but firefighters were continuing to search. A worker at a nearby deli, Julian Rodriguez, said he was behind the counter when he heard people screaming about a building collapse.
