Rupee v/s Dollar: At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 82.35 against the dollar, then pared the gains to 82.41, registering a loss of just 1 paisa over its previous close.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 513.29 points to 58,578.76 in early trade. The broader NSE Nifty advanced 154.5 points to 17,428.80.
Benchmark indices rebounded in early trade on Thursday with the BSE Sensex climbing 567.86 points amid a recovery in global equity markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 1,020.80 points or 1.73 per cent to close at 58,098.92. Similarly, the NSE Nifty plummeted 302.45 points or 1.72 per cent to end at 17,327.35.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 104.92 points or 0.18 per cent to settle at 59,793.14. During the day, it jumped 431.58 points or 0.72 per cent to 60,119.80. On similar lines, the broader NSE Nifty ended higher by 34.60 points or 0.19 per cent to 17,833.35.
The BSE Sensex oscillated between gains and losses throughout the session after finally settling 36.74 points or 0.06 per cent higher at 58,803.33 while Nifty dropped 3.35 points or 0.02 per cent ending at 17,539.45.
The BSE Sensex fell 770.48 points or 1.29 percent to settle at 58,766.59. During the day, it tanked 1,014.5 points or 1.70 percent to 58,522.57. Similarly, the NSE Nifty declined 216.50 points or 1.22 percent to close at 17,542.80.
Mumbai: The rupee appreciated by 6 paise to close at 79.86 (provisional) against the US dollar on Friday, supported by foreign fund inflows and a positive trend in domestic equities. However, higher crude prices in the international markets restricted the rupee's gain, forex dealers said.
The BSE Sensex opened firm and soared over 500 points to an intra-day high of 59,321.65, but succumbed to profit-booking towards the end of the session.
The 30-share BSE Sensex suddenly came under selling pressure towards the fag-end, tumbling 310.71 points or 0.53 percent to settle at 58,774.72. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty dropped 82.50 points or 0.47 percent to 17,522.45.

Both the benchmark indices were trading lower, with the Sensex falling 146.56 points to 58,884.74 and the Nifty declining by 43.95 points to 17,533.55.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 257.43 points or 0.44 percent to settle at 59,031.30. During the day, it hit a high of 59,199.11 and a low of 58,172.48. The broader NSE Nifty advanced 86.80 points or 0.50 percent to 17,577.50.
From the Sensex pack, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, Larsen & Toubro, Wipro, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank were the major laggards.
The 30-share BSE Sensex, which had started the trade on a firm note, later gave up all the early gains and ended 651.85 points or 1.08 per cent lower at 59,646.15. The broader NSE Nifty fell 198.05 points or 1.10 per cent to settle at 17,758.45.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the Indian capital market as they bought shares worth Rs 1,376.84 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data.
