Sensex rebounds over 100 points in opening trade; Nifty nears 10,700

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened slightly higher at 10,738.65A from it's previous close on Friday.
The Sensex of the BSE opened at 36,279.63, touched a high of 36,375.80. and a low of 36,278.84.
At 9.19 a.m., the Sensex traded at 36,440.56 higher by 45.53 points or 0.13 per cent.
The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.25 per cent lower on Friday.
The RBI's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is scheduled to announce its policy decision later in the day.
On Tuesday, the Sensex ended 64.20 points lower at 35,592, and the Nifty edged lower by over 9 points to close at 10,652.
On Monday, Asian indices were mostly showing a positive trend though Japan's Nikkei 225 was quoting in red, down by 0.44 per cent.
Negative global cues and a last hour sell-off pushed the key equity indices down on Wednesday.
Sectoral indices led by healthcare, IT, auto, FMCG, power and oil & gas advanced up to 0.57 per cent.
Despite some volatility, the market demonstrated strength this week as recognition of upcoming stimulus – fiscal and monetary – likely lies ahead, said Sunil Sharma, Chief Investment Officer, Sanctum Wealth Management.
The biggest gainers in the Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank, NTPC, SBI, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Vedanta, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, PowerGrid, ONGC and Infosys, rising up to 1.35 per cent.
The government is scheduled to release wholesale price index (WPI) and consumer price index (CPI) data later in the day.
Breaking its four-day rising spree, the BSE Sensex ended over 100 points lower on Thursday on selling in banking shares amid negative cues from other Asian markets.
TCS is scheduled to announce its quarterly results later in the day.
Sectoral indices, led by IT, tech, realty, auto, capital goods, bankex and power, were trading higher by up to 1.38 per cent.
Meanwhile, Brent crude, the international oil benchmark, was trading 0.47 per cent higher at USD 57.88 per barrel.
At 9.36 a.m., the Sensex traded 240.56 points or 0.67 per cent higher at 35,935.66.
At 9.27 a.m, the S&P BSE Sensex traded at 36,112.60 points, lower by 157.47 points.
The broader Nifty 50 index was trading at 10,864.80, with a gain of 59.35 points, or 0.55 per cent.
