Some individuals with long COVID exposure are facing trouble while identifying people, including their loved ones. Reports suggest people can develop face blindness due to long COVID.
The findings were based on 111,370 participants of the UK Biobank study cohort, who underwent eye tests from 2006 to 2010 at sites across Britain. The participants underwent a test to measure intraocular pressure, and a laser scan of the retina to measure thickness of their eye's macula, the central area of the retina.
Researchers have found that severe vision loss from a self-prescribed high dose of over-the-counter(OTC) niacin is linked to injury of a specific cell type in a patient's eye.
The current survey shows a reduction of 47.1 per cent in blindness, 52.6 per cent in moderate severe visual impairment (MSVI) and 51.9 per cent in visual impairment (VI) compared to the baseline levels.
Nearly 20 per cent of children with blindness is because of the steroid.
