The city, especially the stretch from the airport to the Sabarmati Ashram, has been decked up to welcome Netanyahu along with his wife Sara.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Israel PM said praised PM Modi for increasing India's stature in global business community at a rapid pace.
Netanyahu was received by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the Kheria Airport.
"There will be a live demonstration of desalination of sea water that the two Prime administers will witness through video conferencing from the iCreate centre on January 17," sources said.
While the visiting Israeli prime minister called Modi a "revolutionary leader" and used an endearment like "my friend Narendra", Modi responded with great warmth, welcoming the guest in Hebrew.
The two countries also underlined the the need for working towards Free Trade and Bilateral Investment treaties.
India is working with Israel to stop the exploitation of Indian caregivers in the country.
In the joint presser, Netanyahu described Modi as a “revolutionary” leader.
Breaking protocol, Modi on Sunday personally went to the airport and received his Israeli counterpart who arrived here to begin a six-day visit that will also take him to Mumbai and Gujarat.
