A 33-year old man in this district has been arrested for uploading a post on social media inviting people to a 'beef festival' to be held in Kumbakonam soon, police said in Thanjavur on Wednesday.
It is a food festival with focus on a wide arrangement of beef preparations ranging from tenderloin, back ribs and Bolognese pasta to burgers and steaks, he said. The menu consists of some pork dishes as well.
Vice president Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said that one can eat beef if he wants, but celebrating it or organising festivals in its name is a reason for concern.
