Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Wednesday night gave directions to police officials to ensure law and order in the state in view of the Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya issue.
Tearing of map by Sunni Waqf Board's senior Counsel Rajeev Dhavan in the Supreme Court during hearing on Ayodhya issue has been criticised by members of the lawyer fraternity who said advocates should maintain decorum of courtrooms during the proceedings.
Mohammad Umar, a Muslim litigant, said, "I agree, if we have to postpone the construction of a mosque, we must (do so) to take care of peace and communal harmony and peace in the society."
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court had concluded the hearing in the Ayodhya land dispute case following which the judgement was reserved.
Ayodhya has turned fortress with heightened security ahead of the final day hearing. Section 144 was imposed in the area in anticipation of the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute verdict.
The Ayodhya title dispute may come to an end today with final submissions in the Supreme Court. Both Hindu and Muslim sides will conclude their arguments before the five-judge constitution bench -- CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SA Bobde, Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice SA Nazeer.
A 5-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi was hearing arguments of former Attorney General and senior advocate K Parasaran, appearing for a Hindu party.

His remarks came soon after the Supreme Court extended the term of the mediation committee on Ayodhya till August 15.
The top court began hearing the case Friday morning -- after a gap of over two months. The apex court on March 8 had referred the matter to mediation for exploring the possibility of an amicable settlement.
As many as 14 appeals have been filed in the apex court against the 2010 Allahabad High Court judgement, delivered in four civil suits, that the 2.77-acre land be partitioned equally among three parties.
