Fadnavis, Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray, and Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Dhananjay Munde who trounced estranged cousin and BJP minister Pankaja Munde in a keenly-contested poll battle were among the prominent winners in Maharashtra.
The National Stock Exchange also soared by 83.45 points or 0.80% to a new high of 10,472.20 points on a closing basis, crossing its previous closing high of 10,452.50 points scaled on November 3.
Echoing his party’s mood, Modi flashed a victory sign after he arrived in Parliament.
Exit polls have predicted a clear win for the BJP in both Gujarat and Himachal. However, Congress has ridiculed the predictions, claiming that results will be “surprising”.
