Five more people died in flood-related incidents in Assam where the deluge has hit over 25 lakh people in 24 of the 33 districts of the state, according to an official bulletin issued on Sunday.
The situation has worsened due to flood in Assam. The flood waters entered to villages in Assam's Bongaigaon after water level of the Brahmaputra River rose following incessant rainfall in the region.
Five more people died in flood-related incidents in Assam and around 36 lakh people across 28 districts are now affected, an official bulletin said on Friday.
At least nine more people were killed in five districts of flood-ravaged Assam on Tuesday, increasing the state's death toll due to the deluge to 59 even as 28 of its 33 districts waged a grim battle amid sufferings of around 33 lakh people, officials said.
The flood in Assam spread to 22 of the 33 districts affecting over 16.03 lakh people and claiming the life of one more person, taking the toll in floods and related incidents to 34 on Thursday, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said.

With monsoon now active across the country, the flood situation in Assam has already affected more than 9.26 lakh people across 2,071 villages in 23 of the state's 33 districts, officials in Guwahati have informed.
The two deaths were reported at Balijana and Matia in Goalpara district due to flood waters, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in its daily bulletin.
The helicopter, which was returning to Guwahati after the rescue operation, developed a snag just after crossing Koithalkuchi village, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing on the playground of Koithalkuchi High School, a defence official who rushed to the spot told reporters.

Akshay Kumar has also urged everyone to contribute for the cause. "Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis. I'd like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund and to Kaziranga Park rescuee", Akshay tweeted on Wednesday.
The situation in Assam is getting worse by the day because of floods. According to latest reports over 26 lakh people have been affected until now, and thousands of families have been displaced. Not only this, even wildlife have been affected too as almost 90% of the Kaziranga National park is submerged in water, due to what is probably the worst flood the place has ever seen.
The flood fury continued in Bihar and Assam Tuesday with the death toll in the region mounting to 55, even as a red alert was sounded in Kerala after the weather office predicted extremely heavy rains in the state.

Recently, the state Health Department had recently cancelled the leaves of all the doctors, paramedics, and other health department workers due to the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis, which had claimed 64 lives in the state since January this year.
Assam floods: The Army was called for assistance in Assam as the flood situation in the state worsened on Friday with the toll rising to six and affecting nearly 8.7 lakh people across 21 districts.
More than eight lakh people have been affected in Assam as monsoon floods have inundated at least 21 of the 33 districts in the state.
