Indian Army recovers huge cache of weapons, ammunition from Manipur

The army said the recovery is significant considering the prevailing security situation and upcoming events.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Indian Army, Bandipora Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Indian Army said that under Operation GUSHI, a Mobile Vehicle Interception Post was established at Gushi Bridge in Kupwara. Four hand Grenades, one Pistol with ammunition along with other incriminating materials were recovered.
Jammu and Kashmir: The recovered ammunitions included seven AK-47 assault rifles and 21 magazines of AK-47 among others. The security and police forces in the state launched a search and cordon operation in the area after receiving intel from sources.
This move will bring about enhanced functional autonomy and efficiency and will unleash new growth potential and innovation, it said.
The Keithalmanbi Battalion of Assam Rifles on Friday recovered arms and ammunition in Manipur's Imphal.
The police identified the three as Khilafat Ali (56), Furkan (49), both hailing from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, and Khalid (28), a resident of UP's Hapur. Nineteen semi-automatic pistols of .32 bore and two revolvers with 15 spare magazines were recovered from the accused.
The accused have been identified as Akhilesh Kumar (40), a resident of Etah district, and Kunwar Pal (29), a resident of Mainpuri district, they said.
